Coccolith (2019)

Post by 3DfromNULL »

A coccolith is a plate of calcium carbonate for some kinds of plankton. The plankton has several coccoliths on the outermost and forms a coccosphere. As you know, the coccolith fossil is the main constituent of chalk (e.g. the white cliffs of Dover, UK). There are many shapes of coccolith. This 3D model is an example of them but it may not be a perfect copy.

I cloned a coccolith to several ones by hand to make a coccosphere, and render it as a trueSpace scene.
